Description

...NAAKEEED...! :icontotodilewatplz:
...and fabulous
I would say "No it isn't my OC Titan", but you know most of time I'm drawing my OCs, so Titan being flirty and cool I guess.
NAH, he's just naked and his body is ready.

I KNOW PAWS LOOKS RUSHED, I HAVEN'T LOOKED AT CROCODILE REFERENCE PICS YET 'CAUSE I NEED TO FOCUS ON CONTEST ENTRY DRAWING(S)
AND MY CURRENT COMMISSION. I'LL NAIL IT LATER. I swear.

Warning: this drawing is slight parody of my poke-science headcanon about Avalugg,
but if you ain't got time to read or open mind to accept it, take this drawing as anatomy reference
of my Aetosauria realistic Avalugg. Vegetarian crocodilian all in its faboulous glory x3

Because I'm working on comission which portaits Avalugg in its fully glory AND I just talked with a friend
about my headcanon...I was tempted since long time to draw "naked" Avalugg.

I think I should draw someday paleoart of any Aetosauria member, too. Those prehistoric CROCODILIANS
are not much known and they don't get much of paleoart IMHO. They look like famous ankylosaurus(or for those
who are into paleontology, like nodosauria), even with big spikes on sides in Desmatosuchus like Edmontonia
dinosaur, while they lived way before first dinosaurs. They were cousins of modern crocodiles, but they
were herbivores. Ain't that cool? I also ADORE their lovely snouts x3

Ahem, pardon digression, let's move onto right topic.

Avalugg is covered with ice- not steel, but ice. Something that can melt and get rebuilded or refreshed
easily if it gets enough of water supply. With the age their cells keep less water, something similar to human skin,
but instead of getting wrinkles, old Avalugg gets more rarely refreshed ice. Something I could try to compare
to keeping clothes not sweated and no dirt on the body. Without exaggeration, it's not straight and fully accurate comparision ^^;

Healthy Avalugg which gets enough of water supply reguarly refreshes its ice armour especially after a fight
to let the structure of the armor keep always fully capable of taking hits.
In my stories thanks to Weirda Mirrart and her Avalugg Titan you'll also find you can even guess Avalugg's personality
from the shape of its ice! as well as age.

Refreshing and creating new layers of ice is even necessary to them, because while the progress they
take the warmth from the surrounding them air into their body, while the air cools nearbly their body
creating the ice from the water. Osteoderms prevent the snow and ice from having straight contact with the body.
That's why an Avalugg with opened wound usually...died in a day or two, because while refreshing its icy armor
they commit suicide without knowing it. That's why through the evolution they got insane base stat for physical defence
and their bodies are almost perfectly covered with ice and snow.

However...they have few "cracks" which show purple body under. Most of people consider it's for camouflage
among glaciers, but those cracks could get covered with even thin layer of snow to now reveal their true body.

why this?

Attractiveness, that is.

Not only to attract opposite gender, but it's also indicator of health. An ill one loses it's purple color
and gets more blue or white, depends on which minerals or proteins it lacks.

At the mating season Avalugg migrate to warmer regions, where's plenty of flora to eat. Same as other
crocodilian Pokemon, even if most of their life they're solitary, they don't mind accompany or being
in even big group. While mating season if they mark their position in the herd, they get along very well.

Because they melt ice armor more and more, they get less risky and fights between males are really short.
Even without their icy armor, their thick skin and osteoderms can endure hits very well.
They still can utilize their icy moves and a sharpen move with icicle spears coming from their spikes
can shock attacker enough to make it even retreat. Most experienced ones which defend their nests,
mate or youngs get aggressive with blizzard attack and while performing it they regrow half of their
full armor by cooling the air around them and having enough of water supply in cells thanks to feeding
on juicy flora in their place used for breeding.

After their limbs lose at last the down part of the armour, their claws are fully exposed and are better
for digging, which is right in time for making nests or digging a shallow hole for taking defensive position
for the danger. When avalugg gets into such hole, it gets invisible from long distance being even with ground level.
It's ideal strategy for the nightime, because their color makes them blend with the background.

If you still wonder WHY THEY EVEN DO THIS...
...think about it for a second. How male and female could do "THIS"?!
Even with melted only underside, they would lack mobility...so all or nothin'!

PS: I mentioned Desmatosuchus here, but Titan OC is based more on Stagonolepis, his head is fully based on Stagonolepis. Just to let you know
there are few more Aetosaurs. Titan is not as massive as most of Avalugg, because I see him as very lively one AND slightly more slim.

EXTRA: While editing in Photoshop I've got a pretty COOL picture...let me share more badass naked Avalugg:
